4WD question

I am ashamed to admit that this CJ7 is the first Four wheel drive vehicle that i have ever owned. I see the gear shifter for the 4WD and i have no idea how to use it. Looking at the knob i see 4L, N, 2H, and 4H.

I am assuming they mean: 4 wheel low, Neutral, 2 Wheel high, and 4 Wheel high. Though i really don't know what they would even mean.

I want to take her out and sling some mud, but im afraid i dont even know how to put her in four wheel drive. Please help a noob.

Going into 4L, the vehicle should be at around 2-3 mph. 4H can be entered at any speed. Lock the hubs prior and do not run in 4wd on hard surfaces. Go easy when in 4L as you are applying a lot of torque to the driveline and things can break. Have fun!

Shift the t'case when in a straight line for best results.
ONLY shift to LO at no more than walking speed.
Never shift to 4WD with out the hubs being 'locked'
Have you ck'd all of the oil levels? You should!
