CJ 5 bought as a basket case.....now I am a basket case!!! F-head and a Dauntless 225 not in the chassis but the transmission, T-case and drive train are already swapped for a V6.
Hello everyone,

I just wanted to add my upcoming build to the forum to keep me moving forward. I picked up a 65 basket case CJ5 that the PO had disassembled and ran out of steam in the restore. I have the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 at a machine shop to breathe life into it and the guys are knowledgable. So thank you for those that offered tips on what the engines (an odd fire was also taken to them) critical dims were.

While I am starting this project moving forward, it would be nice to hear what others have experienced during rebuilds of cj's and critical items that should be addressed. This is not a purely restore to original since the 65 never had the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 225 in it. It was original with an fhead.

I am sure I want to add discs, a 4 speed, and some creature comforts in the cab but I am open to good ideas.

I also will be selling several items during the build for funds to complete this and because I won't need them. Aka Koenig winch fhead engine and misc parts that are from 2 different builds the PO sold with the jeep. So, if you see some odd questions about what something is or it's vintage, I probably really don't know what model year it belongs.

I hope that I can get this thread to really hum during the build so, comment, opine, flame, and in the end, really help me pop my cherry on my very first restore/rebuild of a cj.

Thanks
