Sorry to read about that damage. And the delay. That totally sucks. And hopefully you are right and that you don't have any more bad luck. Only good luck.

Well my new water pump gasket should be in by the time I'm home from work. I'll know which way my luck is leaning by dinner time. :D I'm pretty sure I used up all the bad by now.

So I am guessing you DIDN'T use up all of that bad luck.

Well I hope the 82 appreciates the time and attention you are now able to give it.

I'm just kidding. Got her running well enough to get out for our first camping trip of the year. The weather is great and I've been off since Friday. I found another fan that solved my clearance issue. The Jeep has always started in any gear and my mechanic won't pass it for inspection till I fix it. We left anyway. :D

Peter-You need to educate that 'wrench' of yours.
All AMC made Jeeps/cars with manual trannys, will start in gear. :D

But mine is an automatic. ;) Previous owner switched it to a floor shifter instead of on the column further complicating matters.

Aw-YES, that could be an issue then(and 'exciting' too:p). :D

Ok I've been doing a crummy job updating this thread. First and foremost we got one camping trip in and are going again this weekend.

More pics please :D

I've still been working out some bugs. First was that fan that was just too close for comfort . The answer to that problem was one more fan. This one pitches in toward the engine compartment. Definitely better and worked in the 90 degree heat over Memorial Day Weekend.

Next up was why does this Cj start in any gear when it's an automatic? Turns out that a manual Cj and an Automatic Cj do not share the same fender mounted solenoid. The automatic has one more terminal on the bottom where one more of those booted wires like are on the top goes. After that was fixed we got this :

Woot! Congrats.

Not all has been perfect though. Somehow I got my shifter cable to close to the exhaust. It burned through and left me stranded albeit in my work parking lot. Got the new one swapped in and am making a heat shield tomorrow. I kept the winch off for 2 reasons. When I used it last some parks came from underneath and I wanted to make sure I had good air flow to the radiator while checking the new fan. The choke is still not right either. Once those issues are taken care of I'll put my D.U.I ignition in.

Loaded up to go camping and some light wheeling for Fathers Day weekend. Also while fixing one thing I also fixed another that's been driving me crazy since the engine swap. Every time I hit some bumps I heard a sound like a loose bolt rolling around in the bell housing. I pulled the cover but all 4 bolts were still there. Yesterday packing up I notice my console was loose so I went underneath to tighten it. After I noticed an exhaust hangar that was missing a nut but the stud was still there. New nut and that terribly annoying and concerning sound is gone.

And on the way home from camping/wheeling the "new" engine let loose. :(

I'm now parting it out but saving the Frams and axles along with some sheet metal to start my pick up project
