Thought I'd post a couple quick shots up of my CJ. Thinking of putting up for sale soon. Thought I'd get some feed back from some of you jeep fanatics before I do :chug:

Nice looking CJ. How long have you owned it? What did it look like when you bought it? It,s very hard to find a CJ like yours. How about some history?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Owned it for a few years now. Prior to that it belonged to my Grandfather who bought it brand new and I purchased it from my Grandmother after he passed away. It's been garaged pretty much all it's life and served as a secondary vehicle at my Grandparents summer home, hence the low miles.

With that lineage you can not sell it. Trust me if you do you will want it back later in life.

If it were mine, and it had that history attached to it, I would do everything I could to keep it. Its paid for, I would just park it and take it off the road. Then get a second job or something, haha. That is a super cool Jeep. It is probably worth more to you than what someone is going to give you for it. It would be a shame to see it go.

Don't make me feel worse about it :bang:

Times are tough :(

Eat beans and canned food till times are better. Selling it is not the answer.

I sold mine and it took 20 years to get one back and a whole lot of work just to get to the poiint I was at before. The money will come and go but you will never replace the history of your jeep. How cool would it have been to go jeeping with your Grandpa. I would have given up my left arm to have spent time like that with my Grandpa. The po of my jeep still emails me to she how his old girl is doing.

Kinda looks like a for sale ad or a feeler thread to see how much you can get for it. This forum is dedicated to CJs so most all replies would be advising you to keep it. The Jeep owes you nothing so selling it wouldn’t relieve you of a payment only gain some extra cash. If you have no where to store it and money is more important to you at this time then the Jeep then sell it.

Personally, I would do whatever I could to keep my grandfather’s Jeep and the only time it would leave me was to pass it down to family. But that's just me.

I guess I could always sell the German diesel heap I have sitting in the garage instead. Although the girlfriend would probably kill me since she drives it 90% of the time.

Most people here would get rid of the heap and the girlfriend before the CJ. Your Jeep is worth what someone will pay for it. If selling it is the only option, set a price and see what happens. Check and see what they are going for in your area and list it at the high end. It's a great looking CJ and looks to have been taken good care of. My '81 CJ5 isn't worth much but like most people here, I wouldn't sell it. Been in the family since '89 and has a lot of memories and hopefully will add a lot more.

How much do you think I can get for my girlfriend? She's 25, blonde, 5'10" and about 120lbs...

Really? Lol

The pretty new car will get old and someone will pull up to you with a newer, cooler one.

No matter how a girlfriend looks, they get old too. This is a good chance for you to guage her value as a life partner. If she will ride in said Jeep without complaining, camp, fish or hunt with you on occasion and not annoy when you when you want to run a trail with the boys once in a while or eff off in the garage. Then she is good. If she expects you to sell it and drive high ends cars so she looks good to others. Then not only will you have lose part of your heritage, there's a good chance she won't last either. :D

Last, the Jeep gets better with age. It's a part of American history and your heirtage. It will never question what you do to it, how you touch it, or care if you stay out all night. It won't talk back or embarass you in front of your friends, and it's not jealous of the pretty german hottie in your garage. Not to mention, it's a great drinking partner too.

The only downside to a CJ I can see is, it will take your paycheck as much as any woman.

I'd do everything in my power to keep it. That family connection is worth exponentially more than any luxury car, house or any other possession ever could be. I've got an uncle that I've never forgiven for selling my grandpa's CJ2a , and I've never forgiven myself for selling the '55 CJ5 that grandpa bought for me as a first car. It took 20 years to find the CJ7 I've got now that has the same vibe that '55 did.

Don't put yourself through emotional hell for the comparatively few bucks it would bring.

Too late. For all our warnings and advice, he listed it for sale here for $7,900. It's hard to believe but some people don't have the same relationship with their jeeps as we do. You have to respect that though. It's the only way new CJ owners can join in. Good luck to you and I hope it finds a good home.

You posted up pics of the CJ from every angle that you were thinking about selling, so I expect the same for the girl. You cant expect someone to buy/bid sight unseen do you?
