82 cj7 power brakes

i recently bought an 82 CJ7 and i have disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear. it has a master cylinder. i can purchase a master cylinder with brake booster for $50. what else do i need to make this setup work??

a hose to connect to the booster and mabye a couple of brass adapter fittings and that should be it. oh, and 2 more bolts and nuts to mount it to the firewall

I'm not clear on what your asking. Is the booster all your missing now? The booster connects to the firewall with 4 bolts. It should come with a plastic hose connection on it so you'd just need a piece of heavy duty rubber hose to reach the intake manifold. If a new rubber boot isn't included you'd need that too, for the firewall penetration of the rod to the pedal.

They do make an adjustable rod to go between the brake pedal and booster. If there is an issue with too much play in the pedal or none at all, like in the rod being too long.

Okay my bust. I wasn't thinking manual brakes at all. Well if your getting the booster with a m.c. on it then you should just need the bolts, the boot, and the hose. And since it didn't have it before, you may need the fittings to come out of the intake manifold's side, below the carb mount, to connect the hose to.
I don't think anything else is different between the two systems. But not 100% sure, only 99%. The only variable possible would be the proportioning valve but a quick search should turn up whether 2 different types are available or just one.

Please let me know how this went! That is my next project on my 83 CJ7 disc/drum- I want to make them power brakes. I want to buy a new mastercylinder/booster kit and I'd like to know any issues you may have encountered. I would greatly appreciate it. Also do you know what this talk about a YJ conversion is? I dont know if you looked in to it but I like to look at all options, Thanks!

I have both an 81 with power brakes and an 81 without, and the brake booster anf master cylinder are mounted on a bracket that is bolted to the firewall, while the manual master cylinder is mounted directly to the firewall. Not sure if it makes a difference at all, just thought I would throw that out there. Good luck.

Do you a new proportional valve when you go to manual to power brakes?...

The booster should have a bracket mounted to it that bolts to the firewall . You just gotta make sure new master cylinder has the same size brake line fittings like 1/2 to 9/16 . The stock proportional valve should be good to use . Here is pictures of my old system.

Do you know if there is a complete kit (booster/master cylinder) that would fit an 83' CJ7 drum/disk. I don't know what size bore I have-I've been told its 1" with an 8" booster would fit but I dont know. does anyone have the correct info? I see them from 9" down 6" with single or dual diaphragm. the bore on the master cylinder 1" and up? If any one can tell me exactly what to get with any extras I may need- I would appreciate it immensely!!! Thanks everyone.

Here is a link to what I just bought for my wife's 78 CJ7 . When you go to link scroll down to brakes . I am buying the corvette master booster 250 . Comes ready to bolt on and have pedal adjustment which no cj7 has , also bought the gm style caliper brackets .
