I have an 86 CJ7 with AMC 304 v8 it appears to be stock when checking for parts locally nobody has a listing for v-8. It also has a Limited edition plate on rear corner. Is this a rare find ?

No, not a rare find, just a transplanted engine.
You might be lucky and have a Dana 44 rear though.

I just picked up a 86 CJ7 myself the biggest motor in the 86 was the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Mine has the Dana 44 rear thats why i bought it im not a big fan of the AMC20
