AMC 304 Upgrades

One alternative to a distributor swap is to just upgrade to the Ford TFI system. It's bolt on to your existing distributor. It's cheaper, easier and gives you similar results to HEI. The big plus is that you don't have to mess with the distributor gear since you don't have to pull the distributor at all. I did it on my 360 but the process for the AMC 304 is identical: TFI Ignition Upgrade


Derf, I did this upgrade over the weekend and what a performance difference I got out of mu AMC 304 !! I punched the throttle on the interstate and the kickdown on the GM Turbo 400 engaged and away my CJ went like never before! Thanks man:notworthy:.

BTW, what is everybody's opinion on the "Mr. Gasket 925D Distributor Advance Mechanical 1 Pair of Springs Ford Kit?"

Nice. Sounds like you probably could have used new plugs and wires anyway but a cheap and easy upgrade while you're in there makes it that much better. :chug:

As far as the advance kit, I personally have never used one so I can't comment on how effective it is.
