Anyone with D60s?

Anyone with D60s?
Kinda off topic but how did you like running a d30 locked w/ 35's?

IMO 35's are all the Dana 30 and the AMC20 can handle. And if you apply to much skinny peddle you can break either one.

I have a Detroit Locker in the rear Dana 44 and a Lockright in the Dana 30 up front. It is awesome. I've had that setup for over 12 years without a problem but I don't wheel too crazy - mostly mud running/racing and pulling others out of the sloppy stuff. The tires are big and heavy, 15/35-15 TSLs, that have been on there since the first rebuild back in '87; I've never had a front axle problem in all that time even with stock axle shafts. I've blown motors, broke transmissions but not axles - I don't know, maybe just been lucky but the Dana 30 has stood up to Chevy 350 power, a granny geared NP435 and TeraLow low range Transfer Case , a locker and those big tires quite well. I do have doubts that it will stand up to where I'm headed with this Jeep, so I've decided to step up to D60s - that and I have a set laying on my garage floor just taking up space (for the last 18 months)! Bottom line - the Dana 30 can live just fine locked and with 35s if you treat it right.

I hope I am as lucky. I have a Dana 30 w/ an ox locker 4.56 and a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Not swapping to a V8 and the tallest I would run would be 35's and maybe add a 4:1 low in the Dana 300 . I have some terrible 31's on there right now so after a lift, new tires will go on and I am debating 33's or 35's. Leaning more towards the 35's. Thanks for your input.

As far as D60s go I don't have one but I know they are much stronger than your Dana 30 /44. Everyone knows that a lifted vehicle has a higher center of gravity and will need a wider stance to not topple over sideways on a hill. This could be a good starting point for setting width if you know about how steep of an angle you want to be able to sit on. As far as rotating the pinon up I think it would be a good idea to help out with your drive shaft angle especially with the shorter CJ5 . I would also recommend a very heavy duty diff cover too if you go that route.

You probably have already thought of these things but that's my 2 cents with what I know and my best attempt at not hijacking the thread.
