I've done some reading on here and on several other sites about the Auburn ECTED LSD/E-Locker.

To clear up some initial confusion, without power to the unit, it is standard high-bias LSD with clutches requiring friction modifier additive.

With the flip of a switch, it locks just as any other locker but can be done on the move, at any speed.

Where it gets fuzzy is how the locking works / are the clutches involved / if so to what degree / how does the Auburn swap program work for rebuilds.

Any genuine experience with these from anyone? Opinions I have, but some real-world experience would be nice, if available.

My experience with the Ected hasn't been all that good. It's true that you can engage them at any speed. They are activated by an electro magnet and clutches. Myself and a friend both had them. He bought all new and I bought a new one for the Dana 30 and a used one for the ford 8.8 that probably could have used a new set of clutches. Under severe traction needs they will slip. and sometimes lock up to the point that they don't want to release. When unlocked' I didn't notice any difference from an open diff. I took them out and are both sitting on a shelf in my garage waiting for someone to buy them. The front locker is still locked up. I went to lunch box lockers because of the price and simplicity of them. No need for anybody to argue about the problems with lunch box lockers with me. I've had them for quite a while and am willing to put up with the quirks they have rather than put up with the Ecteds. I've always thought that the cable locking lockers would be a nice way to go but can't seem to justify the price.

Well that’s good info! I like the idea of having a lockable LSD, but a lockable torsion would be perfect.

That said I still plan to go with TruTracs I think. They seem to offer the most with the least drawbacks.

I’ve not ruled out Eaton E-Lockers, maybe even only for the front.

I keep hearing complaints about TruTracs when doing more extreme off roading but not sure if those stories are from ridiculous scenarios or expectations, or not feathering the brakes when wheels are airborne, or if the TruTracs just aren’t good.

I’ve listened to enough lunchbox lockers that sound like a pistol shot to make me look for almost anything else for that reason alone. No question they work but they scare the :dung: out of me when they pop.
