Rebuilding my front end and passenger side went together smooth as silk. Driver side, I cannot pry the axle shaft out far enough to get the C clip groove fully exposed. It's new spindles, rotors, bearings, and locking hubs. I know the two wheel bearings are different size, but you cannot screw up because the rotor will not slide onto the spindle if you have the bearings backwards. I torqued the two axle nuts two 50lbs which is correct and I don't think I want to go any further as that side already feels a little more preloaded then the passenger side. Any ideas?

Ck the spindle bearing.

I took it all apart and I think I may have reversed the races. I’m not sure if the hub bearing and rotor bearing races OD are the same. But I know the bearings are different sizes. You cannot reverse the bearings because you wouldn’t be able to slide the rotor on the spindle all the way.

When I first put it together I reversed the bearings because I could slide the assembly on. So had to take the rear seal out and swap the bearings. I pulled it all apart last night and made sure the nylon washer had the chamfer toward the axle housing. I put it all back together and still not enough play to install the C clip. But when I was inspecting, I noticed the rear rotor bearing was real wobbly in the race. I’m almost willing to bet I pressed the wrong race in each side.

Got it. I pressed in the bearing races in wrong spots. Basically I pressed the front race in the rear and vice versus. OD on bearings is the same, but the races vary in height. Must have swapped them on the bench. Inner or back of hub race is roughly .620 in height, the outer or front race is roughly .570.
