Axle seals

I’m installing axle seals in a 1984 Dana 44 rear. Does the seal get pressed onto the first diameter or the second diameter that is .025 smaller. Yes I know I have to clean it up first. Thanks for input

This is the rear axle, correct? I've never seen a rear axle with an inner seal at the differential, they seal at the end of the tube. Front axle do have a seal there though.


Any idea what your Dana 44 is from? An 84 CJ would have come with an AMC20 rear, so if it's a D44 it's been swapped in.
