Probably over the last 2 days I’ve spent 8 hours cleaning my Jeep from all the dust collected. Washed it on the outside first while it was cool in the morning. Then brought it inside the garage and turned on the window unit in the garage to stay cool and wiped down the inside. Dust and dirt everywhere. Found a great deal on line at Ori parts store on Mother’s VLR and used it on the seats, bikini top, visors and took the dash pad off and did that also. Looks one heck of a lot better now. Bought a new phone charger and going to install that tomorrow. After that I need to do a little maintenance. Got a little over 3 weeks to get ready for the next Jeep trip excursion.

Been wanting to do this repair for a long time. Not really anything to do with the next trip, just happened to coincide with the time line and help, needing that very much, just starting to get to old for some of this stuff now to. A good friend helped me install a Moser one piece axle kit probably 30 some years ago.

Been a great upgrade, but had a leaking seal probably for 8 - 10 years and not wanting to deal with it. Confirmed that yesterday. 3FAEFAB9-1250-4B74-9198-22320D5BF171.jpeg48232E8E-2B17-47EB-82D7-3629FB46532F.jpegF45EED39-16BD-4CE0-913E-AC4315E98FB1.jpeg

Leaking seals I always fix PDQ just because time has a way of getting away from me and then next thing I know I won't have any fluid left

So I drove about 100 miles to a friend with 2 CJ7s and 2 CJ8s and has done this 3 or 4 times for some help. He took charge of the serious part and I mainly did a lot of parts washing and cleaning of parts. Good thing was everything looked good after 30 years of run time.

Glad to hear it.

Took about 10 hours in some serious heat and humidity. I was spent after that. Counting drive time and work about almost 14 hours. Job complete. 4DD4B205-3C61-4D0D-BFB2-903BB995EDFB.jpeg7ACEC0A6-FC18-4C22-A7A0-B31CF1B36D50.jpeg7190994F-E55F-4271-A520-8635D364D516.jpeg9B5EBB3F-C0AC-4A17-9759-2804FB9FAA2A.jpeg

Not a fun job for sure

Hopefully I can get a good 20 years, after that I probably won’t care and might be wearing depends anyway. 10 or 15 years would be pretty good also.

They don't make things like they used to. I never get that kind of life out of seals anymore

All packed up and ready to go on the next adventure. Leaving a little before 6am and meeting up with my friend from Mississippi a couple hours north and driving all day and into the evening and try to get north of Indianapolis. Next day up to the sand dunes along Lake Michigan. It will be nice to get out of the heat. Temps look like low 60s - 70s. 2303B56E-2E33-4981-9C75-E6AD0D8C2030.jpeg04D3FC03-F0C2-4987-B649-E01190134F4C.jpeg

Wow. This trip sure crashed and burned quickly. Took off this morning and started after about 10 miles acting up. Been having trouble with the O2 sensor coming loose and unscrewing and I thought I had gotten it tightened the other day. Put a wrench to it along the side of the interstate. It was giving the Sniper fits so I finally turned back home after a few miles. By the time I got home it was a little loose again. Got to see if the threads are stripped. Wondering if maybe the O2 sensor might be done also. Think that’s a Sniper only part with a long wire harness. Need to look into that.

Oh :dung: that stinks. Hope you get it repaired quickly so you can get to your destination.
The O2 sensor should be an over the counter item.

It is an over the counter part put a Bosch. I believe a 2012 Volkswagen CC. 60 couple bucks online or like 40 from sleeze bay just make sure you get the up stream 18f7215273b6c48a0a3bd4a7e4c492db.jpg

Finally removed the O2 sensor this morning. Seems like threads are still good. I can wrench it tight but after a short time it will back out over a short time. I also see a little scraping on the shoulder of the bung hole and wondering if this is causing it to not to completely tightened down. 61BEB00A-7BCD-4D7B-89F6-5D256820AFA6.jpegA0FC45B8-0C51-4A67-8653-48BBD3796CC4.jpeg34B1E64A-0E11-4B4C-9F08-60FF9061A857.jpeg34B1E64A-0E11-4B4C-9F08-60FF9061A857.jpeg4D1A4D00-7E7A-447B-9A23-15DCDFD343B8.jpeg

I noticed that the Holley provided one is a Bosch unit. 6 pin. 1D182244-E99D-4CB3-A2CB-11DD360B69EC.jpeg5F31BCD7-2506-4A88-BE11-167E02148E9F.jpeg93586E4D-C71E-4120-9DB0-914594953952.jpeg

Yup that's why I said use Bosch much cheaper and easier to get than the Holley unit

Also you may want to move your 02 sensor down stream of the collector
