Bent Dana 44 Axle

Okay I believe my Jeep has a bent axle. Can anybody recommend a replacement? Alloy advertises that their axle is chrome molly and is much stronger than the stock axle. Any insight would be appreciated.

Front Inside or outside? Or Rear?...........Alloy is just as good as the next guy. It's my understanding there are only a few people out there making the raw forgings so most are just doing some packaging.

rolled splines are the first choice.

If they have rolled splines they will more than likely brag on it.

I like Moser axles if they are good enough for top fuel they should be good enough for us. Unfortunately I did not see a stock replacement set listed, so it would be a custom set which means you would have to wait a few days to get it. I know you would have a very hard time bending one of those

For what it's worth, I did not bend the axles, the PO can take full responsibility for that. When I got the Jeep it was purchased as a project and was deffinately not road legal or road worthy for that matter. So, I have VERY little experience actually driving the thing. It came with a good size lift and 35" tires. It drove like a drunk trying to balance on a basketball. It would also try to swap ends under braking. The big tires went away to a craigslist buyer and the lift went away except for the springs. The thing handled better in short drives around the neighborhood, but still wanted to swap ends under braking. A few days ago I set her up on jackstands and fired her up and watched the rear wheel wobble. I did post on the wobble. Now I think I know why the jeep wanted to swap ends. The wheel wobbles enough to effect the drum brake, a little brake action becomes a studdering mess in a hurry. At least the Dana 44 looks like an easy install.

Moser has been selling model 20 shaft for years. I bought a set in 1997 and still have them under my jeep with a v8.

Ended up getting a set of used axles that had everything going for them. They were stock Dana parts, straight, had all the parts and cheap.
