Ok, here a question for the larger owners. I am over 300 pounds (but loosing weight, I swear) and 6’1”. Anybody that size approximately and drive a CJ5 ??

What is it like? Yeah it’s tight but doable? Humbly requesting information.

I would say if you are younger and have a good back, probably doable. Getting over that entry is probably the hardest thing with a 5.

CJ7 owners will always argue the 9 inches of extra wheelbase makes for a safer more practical Jeep. 😁

Actually that’s the CJ8 guys, My buddy can drive his all day long at 75 mph. I’m more a 60 - 65 mph with bursts of 70 - 75. My only problem with the 5 is getting in and out of it.

Have seen THIS

Thanks everyone, for the replies. The seller, unfortunately, realized what he had and decided not to sell. Oh well, the search goes on!

Well I have an 80 CJ7 I am 6'3" and weight over 300. Fit okay except left shoulder clearance to door window, Still can hand the wheel or drop to leg. Have larger aftermarket bucket seats had to toss the rigid steering column and get a tilt system. Fitment is actually good enough to be comfortable on a 1200 km road trip

<---skinny but owned 58 cj, CJ5 , tj and a new 2023 that barely qualified as a jeep (it is gone) I now have a CJ7 with same engine but a 4 speed as the CJ5 was. Nobody in the famdamily wanted to drive the 5 or get in and out of it. Get a CJ7 , there are reasons the CJ5 was replaced.

My friend is your size and drives a '68.....not sure what seat and wheel he has in it but there is no way he can fit into my '68 with stock seat and wheel.

Great entertaining video

For the large mid-section guys, a stock steering wheel will give you a smiley face a the bottom of your t-shirt.
