1983 cj7 , six cylinders , 5 speed , 2.5 inch skyjacker suspension lift , 2 inch body , 35 x 12.50 x 15's ,one piece axles , just bought this cj after PO stored for the past 25 yrs ,
Seen another fellow CJ owner with a similar idea. Found another top and designed my own. Still need to paint inside and out. Thinking of a soft top and or a rope cage for the rear opening

I like it. Was there a reason you left so much of the lower edge instead of stopping it at the "B pillar? Was it to help secure it on the tub?

Yes , I was able to catch two holes that way. And the angle cut is the same as the roll bar , and flush with the edge of the roll bar so its not out there in the wide open. Also I think having the top and the bottom close to the same length looks more even

I noticed the angle. Nice way to tie it in.

nice, like it. When you need to put your doors on you'll have a decent seal too. You could fairly easily make a canvas back that attaches to the roll bar, or get one of those canvas (not really canvas) pocket things for extra gear. Sure it wouldn't be sealed, but I bet you'd be surprised at how warm and tight i would be inside.

Very unique idea and it looks pretty good to.

Awesome!! Never seen anybody do that! I think it's actually better than a bikini top, because the doors and top will protect you from the rain (Mostly). Bikini tops have a massive gap between the doors and top, resulting in the occasional summer thunderstorm soak. :D

I also like how it looks like you have a Spoiler!

It'll definately look better painted. I like it though. I almost regret getting rid of the old one I had laying around. I'll have to play around with the idea , and how I would store it.

It definatelywould be better on a rainy day thats for sure. I just have a hard time remembering where my full doors are in the Summer. :D

That looks awesome!

Very cool!

Could you have extended the top back farther or did that seem like the limit of the structure?

Also, that's a cool tool box. Where'd you get it or what is it?

Yes . I could have extended it back farther. I wanted to keep the bottom and the top cut fairly close to the same length. The storage box is a factory AMC CJ original add on feature offered by the dealers. I bought it from a CJ friend.

What did you use to cut and do you have close up pics of the cuts?

I used a jigsaw. Still need to paint the inside and outside including the edges
