1985 CJ7 the proportioning valve has had a small drip for a while so I let it go well the other day it was a puddle so I decided to replace it of course there was a seized bolt and a few brake line nuts seized on, So I had to cut a few lines. After removing the valve I found that the little rubber circle that covers the weep hole had rotted to nothing. So the question I have is the new proportioning valve I have is identical to my old one with one exception my old one has a 3/16 line going to the rear drum brakes. The new proportioning valve looks like it needs a 1/4 line for the rear brake lines. I was just thinking of patching in a short piece of 1/4 to butt up with the 3/16 line what do you think?

If it is not the right size line I would question it being the right prop valve. Did you say you cut the brake lines? Do you intend to replace them or re-flair them?

Go to the auto parts store and get a reducer bushing.

My 85 has a 1/4 thread coming from the rear of the proportion valve. I bought an adapter at Napa.

As I think back it seems that the last prop valve I bought came with a reducer. :D
