I have replaced my master cylinder and now the pedal sticks, I have to use my foot to pull it back up. I've tried spraying WD-40 on the shaft of the master cylinder and the pivot point of the pedal up by the return spring. I replaced the cylinder because it was leaking. Could I have gotten the wrong cylinder? I haven't replaced the pivot bushings doesn't seem to have to much play in it. Any ideas?

does it stick half way up or almost to the top??

power or manual?

When the master cylinder was did the pedal move freely? There might be an adjustment on the shaft.

the clearance between the ignition switch, above the steering column, and the top of the brake peddle is sort of tight. loosen the column bolts to increase the clearance to see if there is an improvement. If there is you can insert shims to hold it in place. This was a problem that arose when I went power brakes. It had been dragging for quite a while but the manuals had just enough back pressure to make it return, the power has too much mechanical advantage to be influenced by anything in front of the fire wall. I also have a tilt I installed myself so the column position may not have been right to begin with

This is a long shot for you but I guess it was for me too. :D

good luck.

Thanks I will have to try that when it warms up around here.:)
It did work fine with the old master but it leaked and may also have been worn causing less resistance was my thinking. Thanks.
