I bought these lights from Amazon. (Link)-> Amazon.com: Hooke Road Front Turn Signal Lights Parking Light LED Amber Lamps and White DRL with Smoke Lens for 1976-1986 Jeep CJ5 CJ7 CJ8 Scrambler (Pack of 2) : Automotive -<

They look awesome (to me), and I can't get them to work properly. I have replaced my flasher relay with an electronic one. The lights have 1 black 1red and 1 yellow wire. The instructions tell you to connect the black wire to ground, and the yellow wire to green...and that you COULD connect the red wire to ACC power if you wanted to. Otherwise tape up the red wire.

I have tried a few different options and no matter what I do, I can only get the turn signal to work with black on black and yellow on green. The turn signal works but the parking light function doesn't work.

Coming from my wiring harness I have a green and black wire at the Jeeps plug. Then coming from the light I have those three wires. Has anyone else used these? Any suggestions? I am at work and had to leave for work shortly after messing with the lights. I have a few things I want to try when I get home, but wanted to ask. Thanks in advance for looking!

I just went through converting all my lights to LED and there's two things you need to get them to work properly:

Blinker Genie Relay for the side makers:

2X LED Flasher for the turn signals and Hazards

I have not converted my side markers to LED, yet. I got the front turn/parking lights to work. They work fine as long as the parking lights/headlights aren’t on. I pulled the bulb for the side markers and then the turn signals work as expected. The side markers work with the headlights off as well (when the bulb is in of course).

The blinker genie is for the side markers and will it only work if they’re converted to LED? Is not having the blinker genie the reason the front turn signal lights don’t work when the headlights are on?

Priority #1 is getting the LED Flasher for the turn signal. That should solve a lot of your electrical gremlins with adding LEDs. If you need working Hazards then get another one for that as well. They take like 10 minutes to install.

In my view, I wouldn't try to replace some lights with LED while keeping others factory. It's just gunna be one big headache, since the low load of LED lights can cause a domino effect with other lights. If you wanna save a few bucks, and your comfortable around electrical stuff (I'm Not), you can always make your own Blinker Genie.

The only thing I've found that isn't affected by a LED conversion is the Headlights and Dashboard lights. They seem to be operating on a separate system.

Hope that helps. Good Luck!

Yeah that is a good point about not mixing. I did replace the flashers to electronic ones. I think after I convert the side markers, all will be right.

Thanks for the reply.

Don't need the blinker genie or other "kits". Just two cheap 100 ohm resistors. Also "jzak" is right, don't mix-n-match LED with incandescent. Check here for how I got my LED conversion all working: LED Thread
