Engine carter yf carb issue

Ive been having a weird problem with the carb on my jeep since "restoring" the car. I had it apart for a while and when i put it all back together and tried to run it, it sounded super rich. Ended up replacing the accelerator pump and that fixed it, Now Ive got another weird problem, it will idle just fine all day, but coming off of idle slowly, it will fall flat on its face, no fuel, then catch itself and rev up. Even when holding steady at 1/4 throttle, it still wont want to run smooth, ive tried every possible position for the idle mix screw, cleaned the thing a thousand times, so i know everythings clear in the carb. Something that I thought was odd was the old accelerator pump rod, the steps are in different spots. The weird thing is that it ran fine before, but the rebuild kit i got from kaiser was right for the carb. Il see if i can attach a picture of new vs old. Also, from what ive seen, the cover for the pump should have a check ball for fuel coming in. The one that came in the carb just has a small hole, the ball doesnt fit into it, and it didnt have one before. I believe this is to let fuel in passively, then limit flow when the pump is compressed to act l
ike a check ball. If anyone knows a lot about old carter yfs and something here rings a bell, please let me know. Thanks
