So my plan was to find a YJ with a 4.0 and swap the tub and 4.0 with the wiring and brake setup to my CJ. Well it seems most of the YJ's came with 4 bangers and the few that do have a 4.0 are 6 to 8k. So to buy a 6 to 8k Jeep and part it out doesn't make to much sense. So I have found this in my town and I'm going to look at on Sunday. And I think I'm going to just get rid of the one I have now. I think I can sell the hard top and doors to my brother in law off of it because he has been looking for one. The top off the one I have now not the one I'm going to look at. So what do you guys think? Here is the link to it.

Love the green! (but I'm a bit prejudice...)

At the very least go take a look at it. Hard to find rust-free CJ's up here. Would be interested to see if it has factory air, and what Transmission . Appears to be a manual, by the Warn lock outs. But could be a Q-trac with the conversion. I'm not contemplating a divorce, which would happen if I drug another project home, but it is interesting...

Looks like a great rig.

Anxious to hear more details on it.

Good luck, the price is low.

Looks good, but take a good look at the frame. Also plan to have to replace all the seals and bushings. Should have a Dana 20 TC. V8 is nice, but has issues, so just figure in a complete rebuild of the engine in the price. Go for it!

I wouldn't pay that much for a non-runing jeep.
The engine ate the cam gear he says-What else is wrong with it?
LG

Do you have a good engine in your current CJ for a backup?
There is a lot of unknown with the engine condition of the CL Jeep
Did the broken cam gear run through the engine?
Good sized puddle under thd Jeep looks to be Transmission leak.
Tank/skid plate replacement on a rust free Jeep, I'd inspect under the rear.
Check all gauges, lights, wipers, heater and heater fan.
Personally I think the price is too high. However if the body and frame are good and the price is right related to the engine I'd go for it. It would get you back on the trail sooner then later, which means you would be able to make CO trail ride 2017!

I appreciate all your comments. I plan on looking it over good and I have one sitting here that is good accept for the motor and tub. And my wife is saying the same thing as some of you "I can't believe you are thinking about buying a Jeep that doesn't run for $4700" but it's rust free:D

Well I bought it. And it is rust free with tires that look like new. The frame looks great, no bad leaks and is real straight. Now I just need to see if I can get running. It towed down the road good he used it to tow behind his motorhome.

So did it have a T-18 ? It looked clean and that goes a long way. Most likely has better gears than yours as well.id part out your old Jeep to start funding this one.

Congrats!! Looking forward to meeting you next summer in Ouray. :chug:

It seems to be all stock and I don't know what Transmission came in this year so when I get into it we will see. As far as the old one goes my son has is eye on it saying it would real cool to take them both out wheeling. So I guess we will see what happens there.

You got my hopes up so I ran out to check and it's a 3 speed darn.
The T-18 is basically a 3spd on the street. Relatively easy to swap in either a T19 or T18a in, if you want the low 'granny' gearing.

Pictures?!?
I will try and get some posted. In the meantime I ordered a new cam and dissy gears from Summit racing I got the MSD gears that I have read to be the best. Should be here this weekend. I started to pull it apart today. But have to work the next three days and we have a cold front moving in tomorrow with snow mixed with rain so it may be Sunday before I get anything else done but with Football on maybe not;)

So I just came across a T-18 with a Dana 20 Transfer Case attached for $ 350 and he says it's in good condition. sounds pretty good to me waiting for him to call me. What do you guys think?
