Saw a Power Block TV last weekend. It is a special insulation just for this. I think the company is PIR. Rod

There are ceramic coatings that can be painted on for this problem. I have used a couple different ones at work for heat issues.
 
I have shorty headers and wrapped the down pipe from the collector down aways. I also found some floor insulation/ heat shield from summit Racing that I laid on the floor under the floor mats. I think that helped more than anything.
 
Try a sheet-metal heat shield - attached to either the exhaust itself or the floor. Leave a little air gap between the shield and what it is attached to except at small mounting points. Making your own should be pretty simple and cheap, probably will work better than wraps and junk like that.
