I am planning to pick up a 1979 CJ7 …………Its rig is in great shape except that it gets a tremendous amount of heat pouring in from under the dash. Everything is turned off but I can’t stop the heat. i am happy with its body and Engine condition.

check the heater cables to be sure they really are working. They work doors inside the heater housing, and often times they quit working.
Also check that there isn't any holes in the firewall letting heat through.
