CJ6 rear wheel hub

That's a 1 piece shaft. There is no hub to remove from the shaft.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Thanks, I finally figured that out. I am replacing my backing plate (and every other component on the brakes). I am hoping to avoid "while you're in there-itis" and the urge to replace the bearing, and on and on....

if you haven't got it yet...remove the 4 bolts behind that wheel mount flange and the shaft will pull out. I'm not sure if the backing plate will fit over the bearing with that axle or not. If not, you'll have to pull the bearing anyway, so you'll want to replace it.

If it were me, unless you have an original OEM backing plate to replace it with (or if it's bent/pitted), then I would just wire wheel them clean and keep them.
