This is my camping vehicle and will only see class 2-3 runs, nothing major. I plan a buggy for the real stuff. And yes, for go the Dana 44 / D60 upgrades.

After completing the SOA lift (approx 4") I planned to go with a CV drive shaft. I do a lot of research before starting any new project and have spent a few hours regarding this subject. I see many have used the Bronco, 80's Chevy and Ranger, and don't forget the XJ / TJ front. I will cut and weld what I need to, local driveline shop for balancing.

I have to replace the pinion seal and truss the AMC20 . Since I will pull the yoke I though I would research a larger u-joint that will fit the 20. The Bronco uses a 1330 or 1350 vs the 1310.

Didn't see anything in my research. Thought I would ask if anyone has knowledge where I can purchase larger yokes out there. This will direct me which way I spend my time researching.

For drive shafts I only go to Tom Wood's Driveshafts.
I once went to a local shop when I needed the slip joint replaced on a drive shaft. It cost me $347
I later ended up replacing it with a custom made drive shaft from Tom Wood for $224. More than $100 less than what the repair cost!!!!!!!!!!! Plus I got new U joints.

Then I was worried that my shackle reversal was bottoming out the driveshaft so I called up Tom Wood.

He replaced my slip joint with one that had a 10 inch stroke. Cost me $105. That's the same repair the local shop charged me $347 for. Actually Tom Wood had to shorten the shaft to add the long travel slip joint.

Every time I work with Tom Wood's Driveshafts I get multiple phone calls and emails from Tom and his mechanics. to make sure my measurements are right.

That's it. That's my only advice, Tom Wood's.

EDIT: Oh I forgot to mention I also went to Tom Woods for a rear drive shaft with a Double Cardan joint like what you are contemplating. When I went with a Double Cardan joint I also received a new yoke to replace the one on the Dana 20 . I'm sure Tom Wood will let you upgrade to bigger U joints.

You always get heavy duty U joints with a Tom Wood Driveshaft.

I'm not sure what might be out there as the 20 has a 28 spline pinion which is kinda odball. The ford 8.8 and 9" are the only other 28 spline pinions I know of.
You might try complete offroad or drivetrain america they both sell yokes.
I'd check my angles before I went with a bigger joint as a 1310 can work on a steeper angle than they can.

I agree with you, I'm a DIY type person. Try to do it myself first. Eventually I will swap out the rearend which will need another drive shaft. Trying to save on cost. Thx for your response.

Old Dog, Since I couldn't find the large yoke on the major suppliers I figured they were not available. Just wanted to make sure. Guess I'll go with the stock size. Thanks for the link
