I just picked up a 1984 CJ7 that has recently been painted, but it was black with ozark edition graphics on the hood. The graphics looked factory and matched the era. Has any one every heard of an ozarks edition cj?

Nope. I have owned and been possessed by CJ's since 1977 and have owned 5 at various times and never have heard of a "ozark edition".

That being said it could have been a local dealer custom offering and if so you might have a rare find!

Keep it and enjoy the heck out of it :chug:

Have to agree with everyone else. Couldve been like said a special dealer option or someones made up edition like Bajas "Baja Edition".

Someone knows about them...found this over on Jeepforum.com Dicovered CJ-7 - JeepForum.com

Dealers commonly created "editions" of certain vehicles, sometimes using a local flavor. Like the "Razorback Edition" in Arkansas, or the "Ozarks Edition" in Missouri. I've even seen a newer TJ with stripes and stickers calling it the "Georgia Bulldog Edition." Basically, if you've got access to a vinyl graphics cutter you can create whatever type of special edition you want. I have no idea what a Prosperity refers to, but it must have made sense to someone at the time. There is a town called Prosperity in southwestern PA, maybe that had something to do with it?

The point is, these did not leave the Jeep factory looking like this. It was probably a base model CJ7 that the dealer slapped some stickers on and raised the MSRP a thousand bucks or so.

Ozark Eagle was a package offered by Sparks AMC/Jeep at their Lesterville and Potosi locations in the late 1970s. Lesterville was a popular location for Jeep races in the 70s . It was a special font that said Ozark Eagle and a Transmission Am Eagle. Doing one ourselves!
