Clunking/Popping Noise

Thanks guys! I bought a vise and plan to take the driveshaft off today or tomorrow.

Did you find slop/play in the front DS U-joints then?
Don't 'fix' what ain't broke.
What about the axle u-joints? Common problem since you can't lube them like the DS joints.

Yes sir, there was play on both side of the front driveshaft. I didn't realize how bad the play was until I installed the new Spicer 5-153x u-joints. My next task is to check the axle joints and replace if needed. Then, i'll change the oil in the front/rear ends, Transmission and Transfer Case . Thanks for your advice!

Make sure you lube those joints AFTER you reinstall the DS.
Lube the driveline and steering each time you change engine oil.

I'm glad I checked for replies when i did. I just bought a grease gun this afternoon to grease the joints then install the DS. thanks for the heads up!!!

I was checking the axle u-joints last night and noticed the passenger u-joint spins as i rotate the lug threads, but the driver side doesn't. Is that normal or does this mean the driver side u-joint needs to be replaced? I posted 2 quick videos.

Hubs unlocked-Neither axle should turn when you spin the wheel.
