Converting my manual to a power steering. Got all the parts, except the double grove crankshaft pulley; any idea where I can get one? Thanks

6 cyl engine

The double-groove pulley on my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l has a built-in harmonic balancer, it's not separate like on the bigger motors.

That is a water pump pulley. I have only been able to find single groove crank pulleys. I'm leaning towards ordering a used one from one of the many used Jeep suppliers...

Is there a list of such used part dealers? I've searched eBay and the like with no luck. I found a bolt-on option at BJ's Full Sized Jeep parts. I'm not sure how that will turn out.

I swapped out the water pump pulley today and still looking for the crank pulley. I had a moment today looking at what I have and briefly wondered if I could skip the crank pulley upgrade and buy a shorter belt from the double water pump pulley to the power steering pump, but I don't think there is enough travel in the PS bracket. Then I remembered the travel on the alternator is very good. Has anybody tried this without the double pulley on the crankshaft and used only the water pump double pulley?

First, have you tried CVF or March for a pulley. I think they’ll be able to help too with the added groove you’re looking for.

Second, I don’t quite follow your question about belt routing for the ps pump. Are you wondering if it can run solely off the water pump pulley?

The CVF bolt-on solution is described for 1980 - 1990. Mine is a '76 so I'm not confident. I had not heard of March Performance, but those are also for the 4 hole pattern. Mine is similar to the CVF bolt-on 3 hole solution and currently lost in the mail.

And, yeah. I'm asking if I could try running the alternator with a short belt only from the double water pump pulley and run a single groove on the crankshaft to the double water pump and the power steering pump.
