Dana 300 torque arm

Hello

I,m about to replace my two Transmission stabilizer bushing and I was trying to understand how this torque arm works.

Should the bolt and the pair of stabilizer bushing be tightened or loosen?

I have been trying to find it out through forums and some people say it needs to be tightened and some other say it needs to be loosen.

To get it tight , I would need a couple of thick washers so I,m not sure about it.

Anyone can help me?

I make mine tight to try and prevent the Transfer Case from bouncing around when going up a loose, steep, and rocky grade. I also have a tight set of motor mounts also.

But does anybody know how this torque arm came from the factory?

By the way my jeep has a Dana 300 with t 176&177.

I gues I will try both possibilities and check it out.

OEM bushings. When you tighten the nut down, it will seat the top washer on the shoulder of the bolt and compress the bushings some.

You can see the washer sitting on the bolt shoulder here. These bushings were too short.

Mounted on the arm. When the engine torques, it allows some movement with a little cushion.
