Dana 44 rear disc brake conversion

I currently have a 1981 CJ7 that is lifted with 35" tires. It has front disc brakes and rear 11" drums on Dana 44 axles (5x5.5 lugs). I'm looking for recommendations for a good rear disc brake conversion set. Also, would I have to upgrade the brake master cylinder and brake booster to go from disc/drum to disc/disc?

Facing the same task with a 1980 CJ7 , likewise lifted with 35's. Read up through saved files yesterday. My docs say need MC change but no mention of booster.

I put disks on my rear scout Dana 44 . I used Geo Tracker front rotors and Nissan 300z rear calipers from an 89 model. The rotors have the same 5x5.5 bolt pattern. I designed my own caliper mount out of 3/8 plate steel and had it water jet cut from a local company. The Nissan calipers have a built in cable emergency brake and you can still use the factory disk/drum master if you want with these units but I had to replace mine anyway so I bought a disk/disk setup and then made sure the residual pressure valves were not installed. The factory stock master has 10lb residual pressure valves that will cause the disk calipers to squeeze and create drag and heat. The stock drum backing plate I cut it down to keep the center portion of it to hold the axle bearing in place. I also had to add a tab welded to the axle house for the emergency cable mount. I do not have any pictures to link at the moment since the big photo bucket issue last year so pulled everything off their site.

Do a search for TSM. They have a rear kit that I used on my Dana 44 . If I remember correctly, the calipers are from an 80 El Dorado, and they have an integrated parking brake. They manufacture their own bracket and have their own casting for rotors to get the diameter and bolt pattern correct. They're really great folks to work with, too. We had a miscommunication when I ordered my kit and the holes for the lug studs in the rotors weren't drilled wide enough, so they sent me a second set of rotors at no charge.

I heard about them from a Jeepster restoration shop near St. Louis.

Im planning to snag a kit from TSM Mfg. It looks like a quality kit. Also planning to swap the dog OE master and booster to a 8 in. dual diaphragm and 1-1/8 master. Will post an update on the results hopefully before i get too old to do it.
