Engine Diesel 2.5 4cyl into a CJ

Hi all. Has any one here ever put a 2.5l td 4 cylinder engine from a XJ cherokee into a CJ7 ? Ideally with manual Transmission . Thx and merry Xmas.

No. But I have put. 6.2L diesel from an 86 Humvee with turbo and intake from a 6.5L into a 89 YJ that was originally a 2.5L 4 cylinder. With a manual Transmission .
It was actually quite a bit less work than it sounds.
Also the 4bt and 6bt as well as the Mercedes turbo 5 cylinder are common swaps
I was never impressed with the XJ diesel as others weren't either hence why they quit production and stuck with gas.
If I was going to spend the coin on a diesel swap I'd use a more reliable and easier to get parts for engine

Yes I get that but if you already have a rusty xj with good running gear... Should be relatively easy to fit I guess as cj had 6 cyl option. Gearing I suppose might be an issue. Fuel price in europe matters...

If you're across the pond I'd definitely look at the Mercedes diesel I'm sure there a dime a dozen over there and parts would be vastly easier to obtain.
I can't even to you the last time I even saw a diesel XJ much less tried to get parts for one.
