I have an "extra" red wire around my instrument cluster (speedometer) and i'm wondering if its for the 4WD indicator light - although i can't see what the light would be, reading the other forms and seeing a cluster for the CJ5 i see this light is labeled 4WD. Now, when i look at the 4WD shifter/linkage i see no wires what so ever that would serve as the switch. But maybe it's cleverly hidden.

So questions are

1) Do CJ7 (1977) have 4WD indicator light in cluster
2) And if yes, where is the switch located.

Thx
Ron

IIRC, my OEM 76 CJ5 speedometer had the 4wd light in it, even though it had a T-18 . I believe it was on the lower right side, opposite of the Brake light.

When I dropped in the Ford 5.0L with EFI, I had the Check Engine Light wire to it.

I don't have the speedometer any longer so I can't check. I've since moved beyond the OEM instruments and went full AutoMeter.
