I RECENTLY TRADE FOR 1978 CJ5 WITH 3 SPEED TRANSMITION AND A AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ENGINE. MY PROBLEM IS I THINK THE GEAR RATIO IN 1st GEAR AND
Transfer Case IN 4 LOW IS WAY TO HIGH IS THIS NORMAL? THIS IS MY FIRST JEEP AND I'M NOT EDUCATEDON THESE. I WOUL LIKE ANY ADVICE.

You will get quite an education from owning a Jeep CJ. There are different gear ratios available on the aftermarket for the Transfer Case and rear axles. It would require a different Transmission like a four speed to obtain a lower first gear though. Stick around as there is lots to learn, welcome to the forum.

Please give us more Jeep info like tire size and such. Are you SURE the t'case is in low range?
Sounds like you have the T-150 3 speed tranny. The OEM t'case should be a model 20. Can you post(from under the jeep)pictures of the tranny & t'case so we can confirm this.
BTW: No need to use all 'caps', when post'n.
