Stock AMC 232 i6 6 cyl with some kind of homemade adapter so that it can mount a 14" aftermarket air cleaner on it. A couple of times I have started my engine and it just spews gasoline from somewhere all over the engine compartment. It will kind of surge for a while then stop completely. When I open the hood there is gas everywhere. I'm assuming that it it coming out the top of the carb because there is so much of it I don't know where else it would come from. I'm talking a lot of gas here. I go back, start the engine, and it purrs like a kitten. No leaks anywhere. Both times this has happened it has been sitting three or four days. Never happens if I have been driving it regularly. I'm going to guess it is a stuck float, but that is just a guess on my part. The only thing that has me a little stymied is that there is never any gas in the aircleaner, however it sits a good inch over the carb because of the adapter.
