Well this is interesting. Little confused by this paragraph;

The new Edelbrock Performer 4.0-liter Jeep head is designed for 1987-2006 Jeep 4.0-liter inline six cylinder engines. It fits the 1991-2006 4.0-liter engine’s intake port locations, but must be used with a 1991-2006 intake manifold. It will also fit 1991-1998 4.0-liter engine exhaust port locations, but must be used with the 1991-1998 factory header or 1991-2006 aftermarket exhaust header. The new Performer 4.0-liter head will also work on 1976-1990 AMC AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l -liter engines with no modifications to the water jacket, and the appropriate intake manifold and header combination.

Sounds like for now they have a 4.0 head, made out of aluminum, that will fit a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ? They've taken away some of the waterjacket infill and head bolt reconfiguration from the junk-yard head swap conversion.

Not sure I understand your Stroker comment. It's done by taking a 4.0 and putting the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l internals in it to get a 4.5. To get it to the common 4.6 you need to bore out the 4.0 and change pistons.

Oh I thought putting the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l crank in the 4.0 and that gave you a 4.6. From what I'm reading they want you to use the 1991 and up intake and exhaust anyway. I think it would be neat build anyway you go because you wind up with a 400ish pound motor that's a torque monster and that would be a great head to do the 4.0 head conversion on a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with

It's confusing because they say it's for a '91+ 4.0 but then say it's for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l later in the paragraph. Sounds more like this edelbrock header doesn't make sense for a stroker because this version is made to go on a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Sounds like their future models will include various 4.0 versions.

Well what I read is that if you put it on a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l you do not have to worry about the water jackets in the head not matching the top of the block like you do on the stock 4.0 head I would be very interested to see what kind of horse power and torque you can get out of it
