engine knock

Hello all, I let my nephew drive the CJ2a and he brought it back with a bad knock.
checked compression..... good
checked valves, valve springs, tappet clearance..... good.
pulled oil pan and performed basic inspection........ good

Sounds like a rod knock to me. You need to pull the pan and check the rod bearing. And I would not be running it any more you are just making it worse.

Lets just say that I was a little angry.

Rod Bearings appear to be the winner. I will pull the pan this morning to inspect further.
How about shorting the plug while running to determine the bad bearing? Bad /good idea?

idk about shorting it, i would pull the wire while its off and chase it that way, should only take three short tries.

Next question. is there any way for me to check that the rod bearings are getting oil? I have 30 to 40 psi oil pressure.

If they ain't get'n oil. They'll look burnt and scared.
So-What story did the kid give you about the WHY of the noise?

Id say at the very least you have a parts washer..
