I need some pictures of stock AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inline 6 engine mounts and there location. (Both sides) Both frame mounts and engine mounts.

The issue is the motor is sitting to far forward (about fist width off the firewall) so I need to see what holes in the frame a factory setup is (mine has 6 holes in the frame and is currently in the forward 4 most) and the engine side in case they got swapped left to right in the past at some point.

Otherwise everything is factory including T-5 Transmission Dana 300 and drive shafts etc

Mine are not stock, Mine came with the 4 cylinder, but I do have a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with the MORE engine mounts. So I don’t know if that would be helpful.

Dose it sit correctly? If so why not

The MORE mounts will use the same location. :tu::punk:

It doesn’t squat like an hippo in the Luangwa River.
It's not squatting but it is sitting to far forward. Far enough in fact that last time I went off road my front pinion hit the oil pan

Thank you. I will compare them to mine in the morning. I really do appreciate it.

Update. My mounts obviously didn't match yours. Found a customer of mine that had a spare set factory 6 cylinder frame mounts and they look identical to yours. I'm planning on beginning work this weekend including all new hardware. I've blasted the mounts and will be painting them soon. I'm hoping when I install them that they move my engine back to the correct location.

To answer an earlier question yes my current mounts line up with the bolt holes I'm just missing a bolt.

I'm leaning towards these being 4 cylinder mounts (I've had a 6 cylinder in it since I've owned it and the previous owner bought it with a 6 already in) when I swapped tranys about 15 years ago it had a T-4 but the clutch was the 4 cylinder spline count. I always assumed it was the wrong one. Now I'm beginning to think it was originally a 4 cylinder Jeep.

I will update soon but most likely in the old man emu YJ spring conversion thread as that's the major work I'm going to be doing.

I started out with a 4 cylinder. And they mount with different hardware than the 6 cylinder.

Update.. see Old Man emu thread
