Extra Shifting Lever in CJ3B

I'm looking at a '53 CJ3b . It has a "4th" shift rod between the Transmission shift levers and the Transfer Case shift levers. The owner "thinks" it's an Overdrive . Any thoughts? Thanks

Sounds like an Overdrive . If you can see the linkage going to a unit mounted on the back of the Transfer Case , it should be an Overdrive or possibly a PTO. They both mount on the back of the Transfer Case .

An old flattie with a Warn Overdrive is a great find. Here is some history from Herm the Overdrive Guy. I use to have a 1947 CJ2a with one and loved it.
