So I have a fiberglass body, and a YJ windshield. I understand the differences but I want to get some feedback from those with experience. Many of the cj frames rusted out because the moisture from the defroster air stayed inside the frame is this true? And is that why jeep went to the YJ setup? I can design by jeep defroster anyway I want, (yj vs cj) just want to know if it is worth it to convert to YJ.

My second question is do you think it would be a good idea to go with the cj setup but spray that expanding foam insulation on the inside of the frame all the way to the left and to the right. This would prevent the defroster air from going through the whole frame.

I think the YJ w/s frames rust worst then the CJs did. This comming from a Autoglass guy who has been doing it for over 35 years.

One reason is the glass is glued in instead of in a rubber gasket like the CJ and when it's replaced guys will scrap out the old glue and scratch up the paint and then not treat it right and rust will start. And they seam to rust more along the bottem of the frames for some reason. I would rather have a CJ w/s frame than a Wrangler one IMO.

I bought one of the cj fiberglass frames from a guy on Craig's list, turned out to be the wrong size (long story), but if you have the cash fiberglass would be the way to go I think. It was a really strong frame and looked good. If you don't want to drop the cash or just want an all steel jeep, then do what I did for the steel frame I ended up buying. Get a can of rustoluem spray paint and spray it all over the inside of every hole you can find. I did when I first got it and have had almost no rust on the inside. But I do have plenty of spots that pop up on the outside. So like I said if you are willing to get a fiberglass frame I think that would be the way to go.

I do live pretty secluded , but I didnt know of any fiber frames? Only fiber tubs right? :what:

Yea I think he must have ment tub I have never heard of a fiberglass frame either I don't think it would be near strong enough for a Jeep. But I don't know everything by a long shot.

I have a fiberglass windshield frame. It flexes a bit but with the top on it stays pretty still.

Daaa he ment w/s frame :p

I like the idea of spraying the inside of the my pristine YJ frame that I scored. The inside is perfect, so I would hate to scuff up the paint. Maybe just lay down spray paint on top of the paint?
