After a few months, I have finally stripped my CJ5 down to the frame. I have removed everything. I have finished prepping the frame, applied a etching primer and will coat with POR 15 this weekend. My question is on the brakes. I got rid of all the brake lines and other compnents. Even the master cylinder was bad. I have rebuilt the front disc (new rotors, hubs, bearings, locks, etc) and the rear drums (new drums, springs, pads and cylinder). Now I need to install new brake lines, porportioning valve and master cylinder. I would appreciate any recommendations since I am starting with a blank slat (still have a budget) for the new brake system. I had a backyard lift kit which is gone and will be installing a 4" spring lift kit (no body lift), with the greaseless shackles. So as I buildup the frame, additonal suggestions of the best / cost effective method to get frame ready for the tub (it is currently out getting soda blasted and painted) would be welcome.

Thanks

Well, I never screw around when it comes to things like brakes. You could buy seamless brake line in bulk an a special flaring tool for brakes, but I'm not sure it's worth it I. would just go for a preformed stainless set with the proper stone guards in place and not have to worry about it again. Worth it in the long run.

I bought a double flare tool and bent all my lines to fit from scratch. It was a lot of work but worth it to me. You can buy the whole line set as a kit prebent but I think it is much pricier. Plus if you are not comfortable with the doble fare tool then you might be inclined to buy them premade. If you mess up the double flare and crack the fitting and don notice it then you might be having a peddle drop to the floor at the wrong time.

if you got the bottom of the tub sprayed with bed liner it would help protect your tub in the long run and help resale value

Certainly pay the extra few bucks for quality lines. Not only for your safety but those around you on the road. You will not regret it.
