flexplate and spacer?

I have a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and a TF727. I just got my engine back from the shop and need to attach the flexplate. I didn't take it off so I wasn't able to see where this other piece goes.


Does it go between the flexplate and the engine?
Also they gave me a rubber o-ring that came with the rebuild kit and said it goes on the crack between the flexplate and where it mounts. Is this right?

Ok I got the metal ring figured out, it bolts to the outside of the flexplate. I'm just not sure on the rubber o-ring. I can't seem to find anything about that.
