So my engine sits to far forward (I can get my whole fist between the firewall and rear of engine) it's an 85 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l T-5 Dana 300 stock axles and drive shafts. I never really paid it much mind in the past but on a recent wheeling trip my front axle yoke hit my oil pan. I've included pictures of the oil pan and the holes that the frame side mounts are bolted to. I'd love to see close up pics of other factory AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l CJ7 's. So mine's using the front four holes on the drivers side (rear pair empty), front and rear pairs on the passenger side (center pair empty)

Now you've got me wondering what's going on

At least I have a starting point. Best I can figure is my mounts need to move back a set of holes

Having had that experience and thought I found the reason this gives me food for thought. When mine went up the oil pan it pulled the skid pad loose and tore the pan, new pan was "clearanced" cave man style and the edge on the shaft side cut off.
