After not welding mine and than twisting a tube, I say weld them. It's cheap insurance.;)

Could not agree more. bought a set of built axles with lockers and correct gearing for my 33's..Didnt have time to weld them up before a wheelin trip and on the second day I spun a tube.. Weld them while you can.
