Does GL5 eat out the brass in trannies. It seems no GL4 can be foun around here for love or money.What is the oil of choice for a T-176 And Dana 300 ?

I don't know about the T-176 or the Dana 300 but I found GL-4 at locally owned parts store. The big ones (i.e. Autozone, Oreilly's) don't seem to carry it. You could try a tractor suppy place too.

If you can find GL5 with military spec #'s on the bottle, it's OK with yellow metals. Not all GL5's have it. I happened to find some at AutoZone last year while changing the fluid in my 52 Studebaker Deuce and a half. IIRC it was made by Valvoline and only came in gallon jugs.
