Don't remember exactly but I got the cheapest version and I think it was like 50.00 for the first and an extra 38.00 each year after just to keep the personal plate. Registration was 125.00 I think.

Down in Florida there are about a hundred different specialty license plates, animals, sports, universities, fishing, hunting, surfing etc etc.

If you want a personalized tag the DHSMV has a web site that will show you an example of what your tag might look like and tell you if it is available.

Yeah, same with the CA DMV on both. I got the cheap one. It is cool to actually see what it will look like. You get the 7 letters and numbers and one small space, I uses one letter as space too.
