(straight -6) 258. Engine is original.
no major changes except tune up stuff
Manual - 5 speed (4x4)
What I did below... basically dies out after I start it... went straight to 2000rpm. then stayed at 1500 after I hit the pedal.. then it died. (will try to get video). PS - NO smoke of any color out the exhaust.
Did the bigger rotor; adapter & wider cap. (new autolite 985 spark plugs .035 gap)
Started the engine three times( it has been sitting, not much run time) and pulled the spark plugs.. all showed black around the white part.
While doing the new charcoal canister found the PVC hose had rotted off (Added new hose for that hose). Jump over to the Vacuum reservoir. The "can" has no rust and looks good but the hoses were full of cracks so I replaced both.
While replacing that hose, found another hose completely cut that connects to a senor and something that is shaped like a small fat light bulb, so I replaced that one as well.
I am going to try to do a video of it. I do have the carter carb. w/ computer. I guess I need to go find a timing a light and someone comfortable with adjusting the screws on the carb. Since I have zero knowledge.
If I can't get it running... is there a difference with the MC2100 or MC 2150 carbs? If it turns out to be the carb. just about to hit 190000 miles (not an off road jeep).
Edit: Just started the engine again. idled at 1500rpm. for 2 minutes. Drove it to the front of the neighborhood and back. The tailpipe exhaust is still clear, but has STONG fumes. still trying to die out. also sounds like a misfire per the sound coming from the exhaust.
So I guess I have a timing issue.
