My manifold has a small crack and wantedto know yalls thoughts on getting a header or stick with a stock manifold. I'm running flowmasters right now and if a header will give me more roar than that's what I want.

I know the headers, and 3" x 30" cherry bombs made my V-8 Roar...

I would assume the header would give you a deeper and louder sound, and improve performance... though I'm not very familiar with the I-6 motors...

I'm not sure how much growl you'll get with an I6 - maybe some other owners can chime in. But if they are anywhere close to the same cost (within reason) I'd go for the headers as thay cannot hurt.

I wouldn't trade my headers or sidepipes for anything. In fact I almost bought mine without even driving it just based on how it sounded when he started it up :)

I would not call the sound that I have with headers and flowmaster a roar, but it has a nice grunt to it when you accelerate and a slight raspby sound to it when it idles.

lol the header will help make more power and will sound better thanthe quiter manifold, as much as I love headers and have always swapped them in in favor of the manifold they do have a greater tendency to leak :(

headers yes, loud noise no.
I don't leave the asphalt to listen to loud machinery. My own or anybody else's, that includes sub woofers, wing ding dirt bikes, and/or loud 4X4s.
As far as horse power goes, I would be surprised if there was any measurable difference in back pressure between a flowmaster and a reverse flow turbo muffler. And if there is I don't think anyone here is in a performance bracket that would make it of any importance.

I agree with Gert and IO on this one. Headers are great on a Camaro, Boss 302 or pro street but for a woods runner I'd stick to manifolds. Headers will start to leak because of the thinner mounting flange and if you use your Jeep as a Jeep the heat and and suddeen cold from fording any kind of water causes considerable contractions in the metal which will loosen bolts , break gasket seals and cause leaks. Another point is the air flow, most Jeeps are used and low rpm's which don't require the flow gained by headers and as far as the power thing, unless you get inside the iron and start changind pistons, rods, valves, heads, cams.... the headers are for noise only and I kinda like the woods quiet. IMHO of course. I always replace headers with stock (if you can find them) or aftermatket manifolds.

Huh? Camaro or pro street? Headers leak? Air flow? Headers are for noise only?

Ill finish my reply later, but I just have to say WOW! I disagree with this post 100 percent!
