Electrical HEI distributor upgrade

Just wanted to check and see if anyone has any updates on this topic. I found a complete HEI setup with wires for less than $AMC 150 . I've never been a fan of the ignition modular set ups. Didn't know if they've gotten any better then what I've read about from years past.

I like mine. I had a carb issue I couldn't figure out so I took it to a shop. The guy used to play around with race cares and asked if I wanted him to tune distributer while it was there. He changed some weights and springs and I couldn't be happier.
Still need to clean up some wiring though.

Don't have one now since I went EFI. But loved mine on my prior SBC and also one on a prior AMC 304 . The right springs and good vacuum and you should have very good results.

Maybe should have cleared this up mine is a 6 cylinder.

Sounds to me like your guy put a curve kit in your distributor.

Put an HEI in my 6 cylinder and love it. No more stumbling.

One note for the 6 cylinder version. Awhile back the cheeper versions of the 6 cylinder hei were tearing up cam gears. I know the manufacturer I got for the one on my old scrambler made note that theyd fixed that issue in a note inside the package. If they dont say its been addressed Id take the extra step and use the gear off the original dizzy just to be safe.
