I'm currently building a 1977 jeep cj 5 it has a 6" lift with a custom built roll cage, front and rear suspension seats, its powered by a mild 66 chevy 327.
I also have a 1955 chevy big back window short step side, with a late model 350.
Heloo everyone I hope someone can help i aquired this project its a 77 CJ5 with a 66 chevy 327, I went to my local auto parts stores and picked up a starter for that motor and the nose of the starter is hitting the tranfer case adapter, What do I need to do about a starter?
Thanks....

If the old starter fit ok You are propably going to have to take it in with you and match it up. Chevy made a few different starters.

Thanks, yes its hitting the bell housing, do you think it would cause any issues if I cut the ear off of the bell housing?

Old dog, I don't have a starter on the motor when I aquired this project it was in tons of pieces.

Don't alter the bellhousing. Get a starter that fits, use the proper hardware, and shim it properly.
