So I took a chance on a nice clean used open carrier today because it was super cheap, but can't seem to ID the casting number/cross with a part number to see whether it is <3.73 gears or >3.92 gears. Casting number is C37434. Is there any other way to ID these things?

Pop open the dif and look at the number stamp on the ring gear. There should be a big number and a little number. Those are the tooth counts for each gear. Divide them up and you have your gear ratio.
