This is a Motorcraft 2 barrel carb that came on my AMC 304 . The ID tag was missing of course. The only numbers I can find are pictured here. They do not cross with any of the numbers on the websites I have checked. I thought it was a 2100 but the pics of the 2100's online do not have the round valve on top or the extra linkage on the side. I want to buy the proper rebuild kit. This is my first carb rebuild. Are the venturi's the brass fittings in the bottom of the float bowl? If so how can you verify they are 1.08 as stated on the outside of the body? I have watched videos on you tube but still have a few questions. Thanks for any help or advice.

Give me a little time and I'll do my best to answer all of your questions, when I get to my desktop it'll be easier than from my phone.

It is most definitely a 2100 with the 1.08 venturies. A little small for a AMC 304 IMHO. There are only 19,482 versions of this carb and it was made for about 40 years. The diaphragm behind the air horn is the choke pull-off. When you step on the gas, the choke closes all the way. When the engine starts, vacuum pulls the choke plate open a bit so the engine will run. Moot point with that silly manual choke setup. Personally, I would ditch the manual and go back to the electric choke.

The rebuild kits come with parts for most versions. GP Sorensen PN 96-367A or 15655C. When you go to the parts store, just give the manufacturers name and part number. Don't worry about carb numbers, it only confuses the counter person.

those are the jets in the bottom of the float bowl, the venturi's are cast into the carb. I just installed its twin onto my 1980 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .

Did you get all the answers you were looking for? If you have a difficult time getting any parts for this or locating part #'s for rebuild pieces, let me know. I only have about 4000 of these in the warehouse. I can help you put a proper rebuild kit together.

that is indeed a MC2100.

I have the same carb.

The rebuild kit I got from Napa had a few wrong parts in it though. Apparently there are a few different power valve sizes available etc.

As far as the re-build goes, it will be very easy and fun.

I printed this and used it during my re-build.

After which I have been confident enough to tear the carb down on the side of the road while snowing to check the jets. :D

As for the right kit... I would bring the carb with you to the parts house and ask to see the power valve and accelerator pump.

Here's the accelerator pump:

And the power valve:

The power valve that came with the rebuild kit I got, was much too deep (big) for the small cover on my MC2100.

See how shallow this cover is:

(the red box and arrow. Black is the accelerator pump housing screws)

Some are much deeper.

Otherwise, everything should be "basically" the same.
